Connect to Instruments

The Keysight Instrument Discovery Service auto-discovers many instruments that are physically connected to your PC or are on your local LAN subnet, and automatically adds them to the Instrument list. In some cases, however, you may need to manually add that instrument to your configuration. (For more information, see Troubleshoot Instrument Connections).

From the Power Supply application, click the Select Instrument dropdown to list available instruments, and select the instrument you want to connect and click .

To refresh the list of instruments, click (Refresh).

Once connected, the instrument's model number is displayed. You can mouse over the model number to display the interface details.

Connection Status

The connection status of each instrument is indicated as follows:

This instrument was discovered by the software and is currently available for use.
This instrument was discovered but is not currently available. The instrument may not be operating properly or there may be a problem with the instrument connection. For more information, see Troubleshoot Instrument Connections.
This is a virtual instrument available in Demo mode. Connect to any of the virtual instruments for a simulated run of the Power Supply application.

Pause Instrument Communication

To pause IO communication between the Power Supply application and the instrument, click at the bottom of the window. Once paused, the instrument can be operated from its front panel interface.

Disconnect Instrument

To disconnect the instrument, open the Instrument list and click .

If you intend to connect to a different instrument, simply select and connect the new instrument from the list. An Instrument Selection window will pop-up to confirm your selection. Click OK. The current instrument will be disconnected and any running processes to this application will be ended before connecting to the selected instrument.
